Pours from the bottle bright amber orange with a massive frothy head. Slghtly hazy. Smells quite fruity, bit of orange and apricot, and quite boozy. Also a bit peppery. Lightly bitter taste, and slightly herbal. Fruitiness is a bit sharper in the taste compared to the aroma. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Nice beer but doesn't have that refreshment factor you would expect from a saison. Almost veering towards tripel territory with the booziness. --- Beer merged from original tick of Saison (5.2%) on 09 Sep 2019 at 15:53 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Original review text: Bottle from the brewery. Maybe left it too long as it got left behind when I moved out of the country. Clear pale blond colour with white fluffy head. Aroma is very Belgian, herbal, touch of spice. Maybe lost the hoppiness, but quite doughy, bit of fizz, touch of fruit, slightly metallic, slight creaminess. Taste is nice, herbal again, quite crisp. Bit metallic again, but I am guessing this is the age. Really should have drunk it earlier. Still nice though. Doughy maltiness, touch of fruity bitterness.

Tap at Kaapse festival. Slight hazy very pale straw with short lasting fluffy white head. Lemon, sour grains, funk, light white pepper, light vegetal bitterness. Not really any sweetness with medium sourness. Light bodied, dry feel.

(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with huge off-white head, gushing out of the bottle upon opening. Fruity, spicy nose with notes of peaches, citrus peel, hay and spicy hops. Fruity, malty taste with peaches, citrus, orange peel, rye bread and a generous spicy, earthy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and spicy, solid and well made saison. Very nice.

Bottle at home on a winters night in August, break from Black IPAs. 25th August 2012. Saison is not a favoured style of mine, but I like The Kernel. Pours clear and straw coloured, visible carbonation and a reasonable head, aroma is yeasty, flavour is refreshing and palate fairly fizzy for the Kernel, in line with the style. A good example, but I will not be having another

Bottle from the Kernel Brewery. Gusher! It pours clear golden yellow, with a thick white head and some suspended particles. The nose is dough, spice, floral, tangerine, orange and banana. The taste is dough, spice, tangy orange, tangerine, grapefruit, herbal and grassy notes, with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent.
