Hops don’t get wilder than this! The positively manicAmerican hop combination leads the normally restrained East Kent Goldings and Fuggles on a wild hoppy taste journey!

Bottle from Sainsburys
Amber colour, frothy white head that dissipates and a bit of lacing. Aroma is of light sweet pale malts, and some citrus light orangey hop. Quite mild rather than wild on the nose. Taste of sweet caramel pale malts, bit resinous, fairly bitter hops. The malts are quite dominant here with slightly astringent bitter hop placed against them. Fairly simple in flavour, more bitter than fruity with the hops, more sweet with the malts. Medium body with a slightly oily texture. Finish as main flavour with a lingering bit astringent bitter tail
Overall - It’s ok - the hops are not wild and they are more bitter than fruity. It’s OK but I won’t be rushing out to buy it again

500ml Bottle (5.2% ABV): best before Dec 2012, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 10 Aug 2012. Light amber/golden body with a mini-haze within: full and deep head of white bubbles on top, left some good lacing on the side of the tankard. Mixed hop aroma: floral, citrusy and piney all rolled into a wooden barrel and shaken up. The taste follows that mixed barrel of hops in the smell almost to the letter: with the bitterness you’d expect from such a heavily hopped beer evident straight away, the wood feel also in the flavours. The malt content is well below the surface, traces of caramel are just about detectable and this prevents the beer becoming too hop orientated. I enjoyed it.

Aroma: Pronounced cereal notes. This definitely doesn’t smell like an IPA.

Appearance: Clear golden body with a thin white head. Lively carbonation. Excellent lacing.

Taste: The British hops are more prevalent than the American hops - the flavour is mostly earthy and grassy. There’s a hint of pine, grapefruit and it’s slightly nutty.

Palate: Thin body with a slick mouthfeel. Fizzy carbonation.

Overall: Not as wild or as hoppy as I’d hoped it would be.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s Purley Way. It pours straw yellow, with a thin bubbly white head. The nose is pepper, grapefruit, vanilla and sweet candy .The taste is full of cracked black pepper, light aniseed, grapefruit pith, grass, metal and resin, with a big warming bitter finish. Light to medium body and moderate carbonation. Balance is not great. It’s all a bit weird.

Bottle from Sainburys, Kidlington, part of the beer challenge range, consumed at home Sun 18th Sept’ 11 Pours gold, good clarity. Its not bad but the hoppiness is sadly a little wayward, light fruitiness, clean tasting its ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2
