Brewed to honor the brave souls who kept our brewpub open in the early 90’s while wrecking balls tore down the mall around us. Dry and smooth, with a grassy, citrus aroma and honey malt middle.

Bottle. Pours a light golden with a white head bubbly head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is sweet with lots of yeast notes with banana coming out. There is also some other light fruits and a bit of citrus hops. Flavor is quite sweet with fruits, particularly banana, with not too many hops.

A light hazed blonde with a thick frothy white head. A pleasant creamy malt aroma, with light pear notes, berries, cloves, and licorice. In mouth, an interesting fruity ester, bubblegum, a bit of cream corn. Medium bodied. Nice and balanced. On tap at Map Room, Chicago, May 16 2009.

12 oz 2006 bottle from Walt! Thanks a ton! Nose of bready yeast, golden raisins, light spices, and floral hops. Cloudy gold with a small off white head. Flavor has a light bitterness, light sweetness, light spiciness, some fruitiness, and a spicy finish with a bit of bitterness showing up in about 20 seconds and lingering for a while. Light but very complex nuances to this one.

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of wheat, fruit, yeast, and hops. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of fruit and dusty hops, leading to a dry straw finish.

Bottle dated 06/22/05. Clear orange amber body with a medium frothy white head. Sweet grainy bready aroma. Heavy cereal flavors, light grain, honey, faint grassy hints. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Very smooth, but age seems apparent.

It pours a cloudy orange-copper color, with a creamy head that disappears quite quickly. In the beginning the aroma is sweet and malty, but this as well vanishes; and later there is more accent on the partially fruity hop, light but nice. It has a good mouthfeel, with a very good toffee flavor and a good hopping, both well bitter and aromatic, with dry resins and character. Long final, very bitter, of Belgian memory. A solid Belgian Strong Ale.

2006 Bottle. Cloudy amber body. Short white head that diminishes to pools of bubbles quickly. Sweet malty aroma with notes of grain and cookie. That’s followed by some herbal notes from the hops and a hint of rubber and alcohol. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter in the finish. Medium to full body with velvety texture that fiinishes slightly syrupy. Moderate carbonation. I didn’t get the uber hops promised in the commercial description because of the age of the bottle. Hops aside, this is still a fairly pedestrian belgian strong ale.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn/boboski. Hazy golden with an off-white head. Hoppy, citrusy nose. Medium body with lightly sweet fruit notes and a dry, astringent and fairly hoppy finish. There’s nothing much Belgian about this. 171207
