Light a fire on a winter's night!
Pūdele (Midsummer pole fire) is a smokey IPA with pine-shoots.
IPA is all about the balance - light, smokiness from the malt blends seamlessly with Columbus bitterness, finished with the resinous fragrance of pine.

Old rating - Notes from my visit to Latvia, Summer 2018. 500ml draft pour at the brewery. Pours a dark amber with a white head. Aromas & tastes of smoked spruce, pine & herbal. Medium body. Dry bitter finish. Very enjoyable

Tap @ Borefts. Golden color. Malt, citrus, soft herbal notes and smoke in the aroma. Malty, dry, smoky herbal flavor with wet earth. Interesting.

On tap at Labietis Centraltirgus, pours a hazy golden with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of herbs, smoked peat and light hops. Flavour is very bitter, but nicely expressive, with smoked peat, herbal notes, and bitter earthy hops. Balanced well, despite a rather high harshness. Solid.

Tap @ the source. Pours hazy orange, kind of looking like a fresh apple juice. Aroma really kills it, tar, smoke and roasted bacon that is topped with some leather. Expectations are quite high but the first step disappoints a bit, bit too parfumy and soapy. Not sure where it's coming from. Still drinks great, smoke coming through but yep, perfumes are pretty strong here.

Borefts VIII. Day 2. Keg. Hazy amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent carbonation. Smooth and softish malts with a light creamy sweetness. Light pine and very mild smoke that is streaked with a mellow perfumey floralness. Mild orangey fruits, trace of tropical fruits. Dry finish. Rather good and certainly unusual.
