Cask at Bradford CAMRA Beer Festival 2024. Pours deep brown with a ruby tinge, beige foam. Light roast, some chocolate, light liquorice. Light to moderate sweet & bitter. Thin body. Fair.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. Roast malts vie with oats in the nose. In the mouth it is fruity with liquorice, plus some ash tones which lingers in the finish. Reasonable.

Bottle from Deli Belge, Sowerby Bridge. Very dark with no head. Understated stout that’s quite crisp and has a small milky smoothness to it, with some of the liquorice sweetness as well.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 6/10/2014. Near black, with a thin, tan, head. Big chocolate and porridge oat notes, a hint of liquorice and roasty finish. A bit thin in the mouth, but a good beer nonetheless.

500ml bottle - solid black body, thin off white head. Slick mouthfeel, has a nose of coffee and liquorice, similar taste with a bitter chocolate finish. Quite good.

Bottle 500ml. @ [ Tasting by Fin & Loz ].Clear dark dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark roasted. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, smooth, oaky, roasted, chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111023]

Bottle shared with Loz, Jan & Charlotte Sun 23rd Oct 2011 at home. Jan brought this beer along, cheers Jan! Pours dark brown with a white rim atop, mmhh.. good stout, ok it’s a litt;le thin at times, touch dry, but good roastiness, chocolate, some woodiness, nice stout. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

From cask at Harlequin. Pours dark brown to black with a small, creamy and tan head. Aroma is roasted malty. Light touch of liqourice. Dark roasted. Mild butterish touch in the flavour. Dark malty finish. Subdued bitterness.
