Bottle. It’s an oily pour, semi-clear brown beer with just some bubbles for a head. The aroma is lightly oxidized, with prunes, alcohol, chocolate notes and caramel. Quite complex, still not. That goes for the sweet flavor too. Full body, sweetish and oily, slightly warming. Lasting finish with sweetness, caramel, roasted notes and bitterness. Perhaps a tad too warming, but considering the ABV it isn’t bad at all. 131101

Bottle @ RBESG 2011 Grand Tasting at Dean Swift. Hazy mid brown colour with a bit of booze bit of must on aroma. It’s a sweet caramel barley wine, but I do like that lovely really sweet edge. Raisins and oloroso sherry.

Bottle at the RBESG 2011 Grand Tasting, London. Pours clear, ruby-brown with a soft, white head. Brown sugar and big malts in the aroma. Very sweet flavor, tons of ripe and dark fruits, brown sugar, toffee. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild hot finish, just great fig, raisin, etc. character. Awesome.
