Ever so slightly hazy copper and pure amber coloured body with a light brown note near the bottom and a very thin and fast-dying tan head on top. Aroma of alcohol, caramelised sugars with some apples (of course), toffee and rich graham cracker and earthiness with some strong malt and grainy notes towards the end, but the nose is stronger than I had imagined. Medium-bodied; Deep dark grainy and earthy qualities show through with a light caramelised sugar and nutty note with some dry malt and bready, graham cracker notes show through all of the inital flavours with some light apple sweetness towards the end with a kick from the pungent alcohol bite. Aftertaste shows some grainy, apple-y and very sweet caramelised sugar and toffee character with some dry notes, but not much complexity here - the initial flavours punch through and seem stagnant after a few minutes. Overall, a nice and very fitting beer for the name and shows well around Thanksgiving time with Apple pie being quite pungent in the name and the flavours - a good option, considering some of the options that may be similar or of the same style. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 23-October-2020 for US$1,99 sampled at my house here in Washington just a few blocks away on 11-January-2021.

Draft pour at Dominion Wine & Beer. Poured a kind of dark ruby color, kind of a reddish drab brown color. Aroma was a strong immediate aroma of vanilla and pie crust crumble. Apple, pie spices in the finish. Slightly sweet.

On tap at WF Fair Lakes pours a mostly clear, light brown with some clumpy, off white head. Nose is interesting, caramel, some spice, some hints of apple. Flavor has all of the components, just not enough of anything, caramel, malt, toffee, apple, spice are all represented. Finishes a touch watery, even a little tannic. Cool idea, they just need to amp the whole thing up so it reads like anything.

Keg at the Harrisonburg location, 11/15/14. Pours a clear copper with a thin white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of vanilla, graham crackers, toasted malts, mild apples. The taste is toasted malt, caramel, spice, apple, cinnamon, vanilla. Medium bodied, lingering spice, low carbonation, Spot on with the concept.
