Cask. Brewers 1841 (formerly known as the Brewers Pride) Ossett. Clear ruby red. Tight cream coloured head. Liquorice and ashy malts. Leafy hop. Taste has a flicker of sweetness but overall is ashy chocolately bitter. Smooth and easy drinking. Bitter finish. Decent.

Cask at the Guild Ale House, Preston. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of cola, light roast, sweet chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, dusty cocoa. Thin finish.

Keighley Beer Festival. Black with a very small head. It’s full-bodied with heavy dark fruit flavours as well as liquorice.

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 2. Pours clear brown with a light head. Dark fruit and dark malts make up the aroma. Flavor is medium sweet with notes of caramel and dark, lightly roasted malts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faint roasted malt finish, light brown sugar. Fairly nice.

Cask @ GBBF 2011, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear dark black brown colour with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, licorice notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light light acidic with a average to long duration, dark dark chocolate malt, dark roasted, licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110803]
