Cast Iron Billy is a luxuriously smooth and heady stout that harkens back to the smog-filled streets of a Victorian London consumed by the industrial revolution. Imperial in terms of its ABV, this 10.5% delight is a majestic drop of roasty and malty beer that packs aromas of coffee, dark berry flavours and delicate hints of vanilla. A real treat of a brew that should be savoured slowly and enjoyed to the fullest.

Opaque dark brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft malts, light earthy coffee. Some tangy fruits. Smooth finish. Somewhere between and an imperial brown and an imperial stout and a little lost between.

Bottle from Offie & Toffee. It pours black with a thick tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, meaty, plenty of umami, soy sauce, chocolate, light ash and charred notes. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee grounds, tia maria, cola, liquorice, earthy, toasty, umami and a touch of booze with pretty dry finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. I’m not a huge fan of the soy sauce on the aroma, but overall it’s decent.
