From cask. Pours clear and golden amber with a small tan head. Aroma is acidic, dark roasted malty and breadish. Citric, fruity and dark roasted malty. Lingering fruity and slight yeasty. Fruity and yeasty finish.

Slightly hazy brown body with a thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of malt, must, caramel, pit fruits, roasted chestnuts and some nice light peat notes. Medium to Full-bodied; Pungent malt flavour with a thick luscious nutty taste and a good pit fruit finish with some musty (old) notes. Aftertaste shows quite a bit of complexity with a lot of sweetness, some alcohol and a little peat with a lot of old ale flavours. Overall, a very true to the style beer with a lot of complexity and a good finish with potent tastes. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Best Cellars in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 04-July-2011 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-July-2011.

Location: Draft at Churchkey, 6/12/11
Aroma: The nose is malty, some caramel and vanilla notes to it and some earth and wood.
Appearance: This one has a dark brownish pour with an off-white head and bubbly cask rings.
Flavor: Some bourbons present, but not overpowering, lots of malty presence, a bit muddled
Palate: The booze are not too strong here, medium-full bodied, finishes with a slight dryness
Overall Impression: This one is rather easy drinking for a barrel aged beer, but it is certainly not special. It doesn't really go beyond solid, and that's about all it is.

6oz cask pour at RFD. Pours a transparent, copper amber with zero head. Nose is very mild, malty, sweet, caramel. Flavor is also rather mild, caramel malts, light fruit. Where was the wood character? Medium bodied, lightly sweet finish. I would try this again, but on cask this was a letdown.
