From a growler thanks to nike! Big rockyy head and pleanty of visible carbonation in a rather clear orangish looking beer. Smells like good fresh IPA. Big bitter hoppy initial bite. Hoppy pine tar and chewing on grapefruit rind back of throat feeling. Nothing but fresh on style IPA. Freshness makes this a little more acceptable for a lager lover. Surprizingly good CO2 on the tongue for an IPA, let alone a growler, and I lked that! Finish is what else but long bitter medicinal hop never ending ruin my taste buds ending. I’m not sure if I’m finally getting accustom to IPA, but I thought it was rather better than most, for a lager lover. Thanks nike!

Cask@GBBF2011. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruity and floral hops along with some mild malty notes. Flavour is wooden, fruity and floral hops along with some caramel malts, mild grassy and nectary notes as well. Rather bitter finish.

From cask. Pours cloudy dark orange to amber with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and citrusy. Grapefruity and mild peachy too. Bitter, citrusy and crisp grapefruity hoppy. Ends bitter and dry into the finish.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2011. Clear mid brown colour lasting beige. Head. Very resiny hoppy aroma. Biggish ipa lots of swertness lots of hop lots of bitterness. Drinking ipas is hard work. Its a decent if sweetish bitter ipa. Tasty though. Bit too sweet and just bitter rather than flavourful hop.

real east coast ipa, no real hop character, pretty good malt/hop balance, good abv for a session beer, copper color, good aroma, thick white head. good beer but leaves most people left wanting because of the lack of distinct character.

Pours deep amber into a shaker. Off-white head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Resin aromas. Crisp dark caramel upfront and well-balanced with a lasting resin finish.

Very dark IPA, obviously an East Coast rendition. Large, rather dense, light-beige head is very well-retained and provides moderate lacing. A slight chill haze is found in the dark honey colored liquid (auburn tinted).
Earthy, crusty medium malts and a very clean, but obviously unpasteurized, unfiltered yeastiness overlay the aroma, as bitter, leafy and citric hops break through. Not your typical fruity/resinous West Coast display, but much more focused and bitter, cutting through nearly all of the malt sweetness (caramel, pale malts) and lingering on the finish. Not overly complex, and the low alpha hops that seem to be in here are dominated by the alpha hop bitterness (lots of sharp lemon and white grapefruit). Medium strength of aroma, no flaws or alcohol.
As expected, it’s got a very, very dry body thanks to the somewhat scratchy/bready toasted malts, though enough light caramel notes are able to break through the dryness and hoppiness to provide some balance. Furthermore, the mouthfeel is unfiltered and supple, without any suggestions of hardness brought on by overuse of crystal malt or excess filtration. Light fruitiness, mostly tons of bitter lemon/lime and grapefruit. Floral aromatics and flavors open up somewhat with warming, though the acute perfuminess does nothing to ameliorate the already acute citric bitterness. Still, it’s very well-made, and flawless.
