Our prize-winning mead - Gold medal award winner in the Speciality Category at the 2006 International Mead Festival in Boulder, Colorado.
A semi sweet mead (approx 20g/l residual sugar) with rooibos, honeybush tea, cinnamon and apple. The herbs provide a smooth structure to the mead with a lingering honey aftertaste. Ideally served at 12-14 degrees Celsius, in a large red wine glass to allow development of the nose.
A good stand alone sundowner, a well matched partner to spicy dishes and stir fries, game and poultry and a companion to desserts and coffees.

Bottled@The Chriso Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011 "Donkey Dork Lord Edition". Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, honey, wood and herbs. Flavour is quite much the same with a bigtime alcoholic sting to it.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Pours clear gold. Big herbs on the nose. Sweet, tangy, lightly spicy flavor. Lots of sugar. Medium bodied. Not too hot on the finish, hints of cinnamon, cardamon and other spices. Really nice.

From bottle at Sunset Grill. Pours clear and golden orange with a no head. Aroma is herbal spiced honey. Sweet and dry herbal at once. Cinnamon, cloves and raisins - much like a gløgg really. Sweet and herbal to medium dry finish.

Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil, New York
Beautiful dark amber color. The aroma is intense, with mountain herbs, like the herbs found in any Italian amaro (digestive liquor), Alpine herbs (achillea moscata), and light chamomile. The flavor is medium sweet, actually getting dry at the end, with interesting herbal profile and light spices, not much honey and as said not much sugar.
I’m still in favor for the Polish and Danish mead, too dry, but it’s interesting.
