Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Hazy gold pour with a light, foamy head. Big wheat, sugar and yeast aroma. Some bubblegum in the flavor, yeast, sweet wheat. Medium bodied with soft and soothing carbonation. Sweet, lightly sticky finish, lingering yeast. Very good.

2008 version. Bottle from Yamaoka. Creamy wheat aroma. Tons of bananas, cloves. A touch of citrus and melon. Cloudy orange-amber color with a tall, fine head. Big wheat flavor, with banana cream, cloves, melon, alcohol. Creamy and rich, sweet but not overly so. Decent sour edge and good bitterness in the finish. Complex but well balanced. Velvety smooth and thick palate. A great winter warmer weizen.

Cloudy orange with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet malts, yeast, spice, fruit, banana, and wheat. Body is silky smooth. Flavor is banana, fruity, spices, clove, and wheat. A bit of a tart, bitter finish. Really enjoyed this one.

Muddy amber color. Bubblegum, clovess and milk chocolate in nose. Banana split, clovey mouth that is relatively well balanced. Slightly tart, chocolately finish. Nice. Haven’t tried for ten years and wow, it’s even better than before. Really well balanced, malty and never sweet or cloying. Excellent

Cloudy reddish-chestnut colour. Big, flowery, estery aroma of roses, banana, plums and hints of bubblegum and pear. A lot of stuff going on here. Highly floral and bananaish character, with hints of caramel malts and a touch of balancing acidity (I hate to say that because people might think the beer is tart - it’s not - but the acidity is the only thing keeping this from being super-cloying). It’s definitely a weizenbock...a fairly simple one, though.

Bottled, thanks IslandHaole! Cloudy orange brown. Estery pineapple aroma. Flavour of rye and bubblegum. With it’s restrained sweetness, well hidden alcohol and slim, yet firm body it is strangely like a good Finnish sahti. Almondy finish, more like in Belgian ales. A tasty and very interesting beer, but what is it? A weizenbock from partly rye malt, or?
