Cask at the Pup and Duckling, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, frothy, off-white head. The aroma is burnt treacle. The flavour is moderate sweet and liqourice bitter, with a smooth, toffee, chocolate, light pepper spice, liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Handpull cask at Coopers Tavern, Burton. Dark brown, slightly translucent with a tight creamy beige head. Vegetal note to the aroma, with some chocolate and liquorice. Sweet taste, nicely balanced with notes of horehound and watercress. Nice thick body, soft carbonation. Not a brilliant stout but passable on a Friday night.

10th Dec 2018; hand-pulled half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire. Black bodied, tanned foam on top. Semi-sweet malty molasses rule both the nose and taste with coffee esters and flavours to the fore. Nice, easy drinking dark brew.
