Commonwealth Charon Rye Pale Ale with Cryo Citra and Hallertau Blanc Golden color with soapy off-white foam that leaves loads of lacing. Great rich fruity hop bouquet. Big rich bitter piney and woodsy flavor up front then balancing fruity sweetness. Pretty nice stuff.

Slightly hazy orange and copper coloured body with a nicer orange tint and a very smooth two to three centimetre tall off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a very nice lace on the sides of the glass. Aroma of rye at first with a big grainy note along with some earthy and rustic scents and then showing some of the lighter, grassier and herbal hop sides with some bitterness noticeable and a touch of caramelised sugars towards the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive rye notes up front with a big grainy malt characteristic, but balanced very well fairly quickly on with some pungent hop and bitterness and finishing with a smooth but noticeably citric fruity sweetness. Aftertaste shows some grainy malts and almost a lager-like yeast quality that shows some sweetness and is balanced from the hops which show nicely and leave a touch of bitterness, but are mainly smooth-ish and have a nice new-school bite to them. Overall, a nice and relatively elegant rye-based beer with some good hops, but a great balance and pleasant smooth sweetness with a good complexity, especially for the relatively simplistic style. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 28-August-2020 for US$4,31 sampled at my house here in Washington on 26-October-2020.

16oz can from Dominion Wine and Beer. Poured a hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was light rye, with some pleasant floral and pine hops. Light toasted malts, citrus zest, light pine. Really nice stuff. Not a lot of rye spice in this one.
