Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Copper with a thin white head; earthy aroma with an unexpected hint of strawberries; sweet taste with more strawberries, a malty body and a touch of spice; and a less sweet finish with lingering malts.

Cask@Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2011. Ambery golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, wooden, caramelly with some mild floral and mild toasted notes. Flavour is the same, but leaves a rather longlasting fruity and floral hoppyness.

Cask, handpull at The Swan & Castle, JDW, Oxford 08.01.11 This was really quite smokey in the mouth although the aroma didn’t suggest that it we be like this. Amber in colour with a slight haze. In the mouth there is some bitterness to support the smokiness, aroma a touch clinical/chemical though in fairness it seemed to be served in pretty good nick as did the Mordue beer I also had. It’s fine but not as good as the Mordue Headmasters Xmas sermon. A5 A3 T7 P3 Ov12 3.0
