Pigs Ear. Dark brown clear beer. Suddy off white head. With a semi dry palate. Nice nettley hops and some pine notes as well. All aromatic hop and not much fruity hop but that suits the mild dark malt. Finishes semi dry. Very drinkable.

From minicask at The Bottle Shop, Canterbury. Has most of the requisite elements of a Black IPA, in that it’s quite dark in colour, has some roast malt to go alongside a fairly hefty hit of hop. But there is a down side. That very faint whiff of butter diacetyl on the aroma, and there is nothing that will put me off more. Diacetyl dies off in the flavour and finish. Decent stab though, but no Thornbridge Raven.
