Our darkest, maltiest most traditional ale. Robust but not heavy, a great winter ale that gives any modern light ale a run for its money. As we brew our beers down to a final gravity of 1008, this beer manages to be strong but not heavy and is as easy drinking as our lighter ales. Yet the roast malt and our combination of classic English hops gives it plenty of depth too.

Bottle – gift from a friend (suspect bought in Keswick). Nose not pronounced, but malts and biscuit in there. Pours a slightly reddish amber with a small white head – which does persist. Biscuit gain in the mouth feel, but also marmalade and orange peel. Not overly carbonated, and little finish to speak of. All in all a typical bitter, quaffable but not memorable.

a Ruby coloured ale, with a light malty aroma, and a malty sweet fruity bitter... Tk2 Bottle at home ... copper brown ... sweet caramel malts... toffee malts ... bit one dimensional ... and definitly over fizzy but still not to shabby 2.3 -> 3.2
