650ml bottle. Cloudy, orangey, dark golden colour with late awakening, average to huge, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Minimally perfumed and soapy, fruity and bitter hoppy aroma, apricot, peach, almond, biscuit. Taste is moderately sweet malty, hints of sugar powder, biscuit, almond, biting hop bitterness. Not in the sense "decadent" and flamboyant like Jean Floressas Des Esseintes’ lifestyle, rather cloddish, inflated, heavy weight without refinement.

BB Aug 2011.Though this is very old, especially for a DIPA, it turns to more of a sort of hoppy Barley Wine with this kind of age to it. Hence I do not feel bad about rating an old bottle, giving if for me very decent score too. Though I have not had this beer fresh, I feel almost certain I enjoyed this beer better with age than I would have a fresh one, given my preference for less bitter beers, and feeling how this tasted with age to it. Barley Wine style > DIPA.Slight bit hazy copper color, small off-white head. Sweet, bitter almond, hoppy scent. Sweet, caramel, hoppy, bitter taste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.Marmelade and jam, nice.

Nice rich amber coloured body with a copper glow and a good, relatively fast-dying tan head. Aroma of alcohol, hops, honey, pit fruits, apricots, pears and a bunch of earthy malts. Medium-bodied; Strong sweet flavour with tons of fruits, alcohol, caramel, rich earthiness and a pungent hoppiness at the end. Aftertaste shows a lot of sugars, some good malt flavours, a bunch of fruit notes and hints of hops - but not much at all. Overall, this is almost more akin to a belgian tripel than an Imperial IPA - tons of sugars with not that much hops, but the underlying alcohol flavour that drives the beer and sort of takes away from it’s complexity. Perhaps worth trying, but not different enough from a lot of other similar beers to really go out of the way for it. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased a few minutes ago at Binny’s in Chicago, Illinois (S Jefferson) for US$6.49 sampled in my hotel room here in Chicago, Illinois on 21-August-2013.

Shared BOTTLE. Fruity and smooth malts, pretty malty and bitterness is 50/50 hops and alcohol.

BOTTLE 66CL from GBBF’13.

Head: off-white, small, frothy, avg. retention. Colour: dark amber, clear.

Aroma: hops, citrus, pine, caramel.

Taste: caramel, some alcohol, hops. 7-4-7-3-15=3.6

Clear dark gold body with a fleeting off-white head. Minimal aroma of sweet malt and flowery hops. The flavor is well balanced but not too bitter and not much sweetness. Full bodied but not impressive.

Bottle at gbbf 2013. Clear light amber small halo of white head. Aroma is sweet resin and crystal malt. Flavour is slightly sweet. Crisp csrbonatio n. Nicw stuff
