Backlog October 2016. Slightly unclear orange golden body under a small white head. Aroma has malt, caramel and citric fruit. Taste is sweet and malty, light caramel, citric fruit and relatively bitter. Balanced body and nice aftertaste with a bitter finish. Quite straight forward classic IPA, but made very well.

Can 355ml @ home
Pours hazy deep golden/amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus, alcohol, orange and hint of pine. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, orange, citrus, piney and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

From Apr 2007

This one pours from 22oz waxed cap bottle a clear amber gold with a large head of foam that shrank slowly leaving a ring around the glass with good lacing.

The smell is dominated by sweet caramel malt but has a bit of grapefruit in the background.

The taste on first is big on the caramel malt that I mentioned in the smell. I'm also getting a bit of dark fruit...mostly plum.
Further sips in and some grain begins to show up along with some hop bitterness, actually more of a pungency, that makes up most of the finish. There *seems* to be an almost empty spot between the caramel malt and the hop finish, other than some graininess, and *that* comes across to me as a bit watery. The alcohol is hidden pretty well so the only thing I consider negative is that darn empty spot and it *does* affect the overall taste experience for me...

Bottom line: I'm glad I tried this DIPA but it's not one that I'd seek out again. Unless the flavours became more consistent.

Canned, 355 ml from State Liquor Store in St George UT. Pours cloudy dark orange with white head. Hoppy, pine, citrus, some ripe fruit, peach, caramel, quite sweet with harsh bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not my favorite type of IIPA.
