500ml bottle. 77th anniversary edition. Poured a clear light copper colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt, red berry fruits, dry woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a smooth, malt, woody dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A classic English bitter.

At GBBF. Bitter with loose but finely structured and stable, off-white, lacing head and hazy orange blonde colour. Aroma of caramel candy, butterscotch, hazelnuts, dried banana, chamomille. Dried fruits in the mouth, smooth and buttery mouthfeel, soft carbo, caramelly malt sweetishness with a nutty edge which persists till deep in the finish, adorned with only a hint of floral hop bitterness. Could have done with more hops, in this form a bit one-sidedly malty, but tasty and flawless.

Cask at the Griffin Hotel, Attleborough. Copper/brown, clear with a little bit of white head. Astringency, stewed prunes, sweet herbs in the aroma. The taste is bittersweet, with hints of caramel, berries and pine needles. Slightly more bitter in the medium dry finish, more prunes with a hint of Parma violets. Pretty good but wearing after a while.

Sampled @ GBBF day 3. Hazy dark orange color, small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, slightly buttery, lightly bitter, slightly dark malts or caramel, a hint of leaves. Decent body and carbonation. Meh, don’t really like it.

Clear amber beer, tidy off white head. Crispy palate, slightly dry. Standard malts but then pleasantly zingy hops. Lemon citrus. Bubblegum sweet ester. Semi dry finish. Good bitter and always a pleasure drinking a beer that serves charity.

Red amber colour, a bit hazy. Strange, but not unpleasant aroma of sweet red fruits and yeast. Really smooth, pleasing mouthfeel. Flavour has a bread dough, yeasty edge and a fragrant hoppy dry finish.
