Sep 2011: This is the second beer I’ve had from the 2010 70th Anniversary of the RAF’s Battle of Britain collection (I got four different ones). Lovely amber look, off-white head on top, some good lacing hung around throughout the tasting. Malts in the aroma and in the taste, mildly roasted shortbread biscuits came to mind, but with as much salt and sugar in the mix. A very easy drinking session beer, it was reviewed 3 months after it’s Best Before Date, but you couldn’t tell.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys. Clear mid brown beer with disappearing beige head. Some burnt toast malt. Not much bittterness. Bit fizzy to be honest so I swirled it vigourously and the flavours picked up, some yeast character, some burnt toast, some good tingle on the finish. OK best bitter.

50cl bottle from Sainsburys. Golden amber with a rapidly fading loose white head; earthy malt aroma; pleasant light malty flavour with a touch of caramel; and some fresh light hops to finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Deep chestnut with a billowy white head. Fruity, bready malt aroma. Easy drinking with more of the same fruit and malts and a pleasantly bitter finish. Good.
