Cask at Pineapple beer fest. Very dark red, almost black colour. No head. Soft in the mouth, nice feel. Aroma is quite fruity, and lots of creamy coffee. Little bit of spice. Not wildly exciting taste, but very smooth and drinkable. Maybe a little bit nutty. No carbonation. --- Beer merged from original tick of Newcastle Coffee Porter on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 30/11/12. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin bubbly tan head that retains well. Good lacing ensues. Nose comprises roast malts, pinch of tobacco, molasses, dark fruits. Tastes follows, very subtle dose of coffee evident in the taste, but couldn’t really detect this on the nose. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish.

Cask. Reddish brown colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is bready and sweet malty with some slight roasted notes as well. Also some slight coffee and ashes as it warms up a bit. Flavour is sweet malts, some roasted notes with mild coffee and chocolate. Ashes and slgiht vanilla also their. Finishes in a quite black cold coffeeish sourish bitterness. Balanced and quite a nice Porter!

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Very deep ruby colour thin tan head. Lots of coffee on aroma. Hell of a lot bettre than I was expecting. No powder or graininess. J juicy porter with well balanced coffee on top. Coffee is a little Maxwell House to be honest rather than espresso. It’s good. Difficult to do the style well, so a big up for trying.

(Cask at Penderel’s Oak JDW, Holborn, London, 25 Nov 2009) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of freshly ground coffee and a touch of acidity (might come from the coffee). Roasted, malty taste with freshly ground coffee and a touch of slightly tart dark fruit. Medium body, generous coffee bitterness. A bit different with lots of coffee character. Nice one.

Cask at Hatch End, W’Spoons. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Roasty aroma. Chocolatey, roasty taste. I could not detect any coffee whatsoever. Rather thin and bland, was expecting more.
