500ml bottle: BB November 2023, drank at home on 1st September 2023. Mahogany brown/red body, beige head. Malty brew from start to finish, light hop content with a slight bitterness, but it's all about the nutty maltiness really.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a dark reddish-brown with ample off-white head. Roasted malts and nuts combine well in the aroma. The initial impression is the mouth is of the sweetness with roasted malts to the fore, and a base of biscuits. Later on treacle and aniseed come through, with a slightly smoky texture. Finish is bitter and slightly spicy. A decent “strong” ale.

Cask-conditioned at the Cornubia, Bristol 3/02/2011. Mahogany in colour with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish, red fruit and caramel aroma with some roasty malts. Flavour of sweet, doughy malts, with some cocoa powder and fruits, a tempting smoky edge and then a decent, bitter finish. Enjoyable.
