Fra flaske på Cardinal: Første gang jeg prøver et øl fra Søgaard, og det frister til gjentagelse. Flott skum. Behagelig, typisk kaffestout-aroma. Behagelig sødme, og kaffepreget er også fint integrert. Passe bitter.

Medium beige head. Clear deep reddish brown body with light carbonation. Roasty resiny pine needle aroma with earthy coffee notes. Dry-sweet roasty sugary toffee taste with coffee notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish roasty coffee aftertaste with mealy minty notes. Not bad, but a bit one-dimensional. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

On tap at Ølfestival 2012. Black with a small tan head. Quite a lot of Espresso in the aroma, also notes of chocalte and roasted malt. A lot of Espresso in the taste, I liked it! Not heavy but pleasantly drinkable.

50 cl bottle. Pours thick black with a huge tan head. Aroma is solid hoppy, roasted malty and light coffee. Flavour has a lot more coffee than the arma, mixed wit a nice roasted malt base and light fruity hoppy oily flavours. Smooth roasted, light herbal and crisp hoppy finish. Lovely.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, coffee, and a bit of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of espresso coffee, combined with roasted malt, and a bit of chocolate, leading to a coffee bitter finish. The body is light.

On tap at Ølfestival 2011. A clear looking more or less black beer, topped by a big, dense, dark beige to light tan head leaving lacings. There’s a faint touch of butterscotch on the nose, rather burnt and with a lovely coffee aroma. Roasted malts, coffee, a faint butterscotch note and some bitterness in the flavor. Rather dry on the palate, finishing roasted and bitter. Bitter in both the hoppy and the coffee-like way. Well, it’s a nice beer, but I could do without the diacetyl. 110527
