A classic IPA focused on balance and drinkability with a thoughtful blend of American and German grown hops. Resinous without being sticky, malty depth without being sweet and like all Moonlight beers, kept unfiltered yet cold-conditioned for clarity.

On tap at Toronado. A clear one, dark golden in color, topped by a small, white head. The aroma is on the hoppy side, with peaches and some pine cones. The flavor is pretty much the same, mostly on the hoppy side, with some malts. Medium body, very soft carbonation. Mostly bitter finish. A very subtle beer, and quite tasteful. 130804

Tap. Pours clear amber with a small off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, passionfruit, a bit of weed. Flavor is about the same plus caramel, lightly sweet, medium bitterness lasting through the finish. Light to medium body, quite oily in the mouth.

Poured up on tap at Beer Revolution with crystal clear gold body supporting a thin off white head. The aroma offers up a nice pungent spicy hoppiness sliding into lesser amounts of vague citrus like hops. The taste delivers fairly bold spicy hops that carry a good load of resiny hop bitterness that moves into some bitter grapefruit like notes. Hidden behind the bitterness are modest notes of mostly spicy hop flavor and some citrus hop flavor. Wow! This is an amazing IPA experience with harmonious and varied rich hop notes from front to back. Damn!

Cask at Toranado. Very nice citrus nose. Amber-gold with a solid, fine head. Very bitter, hoppy flavor with honey and some bread. Huge bitterness. Fruity sweetness alongside as well. Decent.

Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of lemon, grapefruit, malt, and grain. The flavor is sweet malty with a good deal of hops lending it citrusy and grassy notes as well as a touch of spices, which reminds me of Nuggets hops. The finish is dry and rather bitter.

This was served a bit too cold in a nice restaurant in Fort Bragg, but it warmed up nicely and showed off some good, different (for me, anyway) hop flavors. It’s a deep golden beer with a good head. The nose is mostly lemony hops. The taste is more bracing than I was expecting. There’s a lot of bitterness, and it gets into the Imperial end of the IPA pool with its intensity of flavor. The hop notes are still mostly lemon with some pine but little floweriness as I was expecting. (Just tried it again by City Beer Store 4/9/2010)
