In times long gone, this bold archer was both feared and worshipped on the British Islands. Best known for his cranky character and dark moods. Barley wine brewed with British malts and hops. Traditional English crystal and amber malts provide a deep rich palate of toffee, walnuts and marmalade.

330 ml. bottle bottled 12/2017. Near clear amber orange with little in the way of head. Nose is cooked apple, medicinal, cough syrup, bay leaf, dark sugar. Lacks carbonation, very soft. Taste is cough syrup, medicinal, stale kitchen spices, medicinal, leaves, beginning of oxidation, too much cough medicinal for me, not my kind of barley wine

English style barleywine by this microbrewery in Amsterdam-Noord, bottle at Biertuin shared by Craftmember, cheers! Pale beige-ish off-white, moussy but thin, open head over a deep mahogany reddish brown beer with copper hue. Aroma of caramel candy, candied figs, dried orange peel, strawberry, hay, dry tea bags, brown sugar, brandy, stewed apple. Fruity onset, lots of pear and fig impressions, some dried peach with a sourish edge, lively carbonation with lightly minerally effects (a bit much so for a barleywine really), caramelly and toffeeish malt sweet body with light toasty and nutty sides, more bitterish in the finish where an earthy, hayish, bit spicy hoppiness sets in and blends with the toasty bitterish edge of the malts; caramelly sweetness, however, gets the last word, heated by an afterglow of brandy-like alcohol. Bit overcarbonated perhaps for a decidedly English style strong ale, but a very pleasant sipper nonetheless.

Minimal beige left nothing on dark brown still body. Malt, demerara & dark chocolate. Medium to thin body, super smooth & clean on the finish. Spicy tastes of bitter sweet citrus, malt, demerara & pepper with long tangy finish.

Bottle @ BΓ₯de &, Kristiansand. Nice amber body with a dense, lacing, medium sized beige head. Strong and nice aroma with lots of malt, dry fruit, some toffee and hint of toast. Some warming vinous alcohol as well. Flavor is sweet malty, dry and red fruit, toffee, toast and mild bitterness with a slightly warming vinous finish. Full bodied and long lasting aftertaste. A really nice, well made, quite straight forward Barley wine that seems to be made with the classic British style in mind. Great with food and nice as a sipper.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra Nieuwegein. Very dark amber with some floaties and a dense off-white head. Caramel and figs aroma along with some gentle hops. Taste is sweet and boozy with a somewhat harsh roasted malts finish. Not the subtlest barley wine I ever tasted.
