Barley wine brewed with British malts and hops. Traditional English crystal and amber malts provide a deep rich palate of toffee, walnuts and marmalade.

Bottle at home. Aroma is sweetish malts, caramel, dried fruits, toffee, touch of cocoa and roasty coffee, hint of raisins, bittering hops, some liquorice in the finish. Flavour is sweet but not excessively so, with a good biiter finish. Body is a bit above medium. Nice UK style Barley Wine, not too sweet for my taste.

Tap at Noord-Hollands bierfestival ’17, Alkmaar: Cloudy brown colored brew with an medium sweet bitter taste, hints of caramel, dried fruits and some vanilla.

Bottle. Amber color. Malty Bready aroma with a hint of sulphur. Full bodied. Malty sweet flavor with hints of coffee, licorice, laurel and earthy hops. Not al all what I expected.

On tap at Walhalla, Amsterdam, in the company of Bob and Claire, Saturday 8th June 2019. Hazy murky amber with a light beige head. I understand that this is the 2016 vintage. Thick in the mouth, burnt toffee, quite a bitterness to this.This is really very good.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 2019-12) im 2019-03 getrunken. Diese dunkle Ale hat irgendwie nichts von einen Barley Wine eher ein English Strong Ale. Neben der kräftigen Malznote und etwas Hopfen ist da nicht mehr - aber auch nichts störendes außer die Langeweile im Glas.
