Bottle from Beers Of Europe. This one is 4.5%. Appearance - amber and lively on opening. Then the head fizzed frantically before dying completely. Nose - light green chilli and mainly caramel. Taste - caramel again and the chilli builds down the glass. Palate - close to medium bodied, slightly sweet but the chilli dries it a little. Overall - better than I'd expected.

Bottle at CBC Clerkenwell 1st Birthday Party - London. Pours cloudy yellow with no head. Tangy malts in the nose with underripe chilies. Light sweet flavor, quite hot though not overly hot, some lemon. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Aside from the heat there’s not much else. Mild pale malts to finish, chili heat, faint tang, light dough. Not awesome.

(Bottle) Cloudy yellow amber, no head. Aroma is chili pepper with green tomato tangyness. Medium light body with fine and abundant carbonation. Flavour is sour in a pleasant way - cider vinegar, green apples with a nice chili note. The chili heat is very well balanced: barely noticeable in each mouthful, but leaving a gentle heat which builds with every mouthful. An excellent chili beer, but I don’t think the description "bitter" is accurate - this is a specialty beer.

Bottle, thanks to Ian. It pours flat cloudy golden yellow. The nose is sweet-sour, chilli heat and grapefruit. The taste is vinegar, red chilli heat and sour grapefruit. The chilli creeps up on you and leaves a bit of burn in the back of the throat after a while. Medium body and pretty much no carbonation. Spicy and unintentionally sour....this is actually better than the sum of its parts!

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It’s a clear, dark golden beer with thin layer of white bubbles. The aroma is like when opening a jar of jalapenos, nothing more. The flavor has sweetness and a fruity touch initially, but then the chili kicks in, as well as a touch of lemony sourness and vinegar. Intense burn in the throat, also spreading all over the mouth. Thin on the palate. Well, it’s sort of nice, but way too intense to be pleasant. 10cl is enough by far. 110318
