The release of our Turbo Shandy Citrus Ale is around mid June. Born from European tradition, our Shandy is a refreshing combination of lemon and light malt flavors. Unlike traditional shandys, Turbo Shandy, revs it up a couple of notches with a high test, full flavored approach as only Hoppin’ Frog can do.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a hazy bright yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head. The aroma was sweet lemonade. The flavor was sweet with sugar and lemonade. Long lemonade finish. Medium body.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 33B/29B). Bottle 65 cl (batch unknown, BBF unknown). AROMA: medium-high sligthly artificial lemon aroma, with a hot liquor background. malt almost imperceptible. APPEARANCE: pale yellow color and cristal clear. medium white head with medium-low to low retention. TASTE: equal to aroma with the same amount of lemon and faint malt background. medium bitterness with a dry finish. PALATE: medium to medium-high body with alcohol warmth. medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a different take on an european classic, that resembles a lot "limoncello".

A light yellow beer, a head is white and almost medium. Aroma has strong lemon, flowers and almost perfume, some fruit candies. Weird and interesting aroma. Taste has lemon, fruit candies, perfume, some barrel, maybe too much of sweetness. Medium bodied, slightly stickyness. As dryer would be more refreshning. Interesting and good beer.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, summer 2015 bottling. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a ring of lace that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big lemonade, lemon peel, lime, grapefruit, wheat, cracker, light honey, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of lemon/citrus, bready malt, and light earthy hop/yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemonade, lemon peel, lime, grapefruit, wheat, cracker, light honey, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness, yeast spiciness, and citrus tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness and balance of lemon/citrus, bready malt, and light earthy hop/yeast flavors; with great malt/spice/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent shandy style! All around great robustness and balance of lemon/citrus, bready malt, and light earthy hop/yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Light wheat beer flavor, Lemon, and it is sweet. Cloudy yellow, and sweet lemon finish. Very easy drinking, and good. It would be a good choice on a warm day.

Bottle shared by John, thanks! Pours a hazy deep yellowish gold with a white head that dissipates quickly and nearly completely. Aroma has a lots of lemon, both sweet and tart, with a strong sweet wheat backbone. Flavor has a combination of sweet wheat and sweet lemon with a slight bitterness underlying.
