Trader Joe’s Vintage Ale is a dark Belgian style beer of great distinction produced by traditional top fermentation methods resulting in a rich and full-bodied flavor. The Champagne-like effervescence and smooth mouth feel are the result of a natural secondary fermentation in the bottle obtained by the use of a carefully selected yeast culture. This vintage ale commences with a rich head of foam, followed by a smooth dark flavor with a hint of roasted malt delicately balanced by subtle notes of noble European hops. True to its Abbey style, this year’s vintage closes with a long, complex and subtly spiced finish.
Brewed once a year in limited quantity, please enjoy Trader Joe’s 2006 Vintage Ale. This ale will age exceptionally well over time, developing more complex flavor as the years go by. Exclusively bottled for Trader Joe’s. Best Before 08-28-2009.

Bottle courtesy of Shp555: Poured a dark brown color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with perfect retention and great lacing. Aroma of spice with huge Belgian malt and typical Unibroue yeast. Taste is dominating by strong spice, Unibroue yeast and big Belgian malt. Body is above average with some great carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. I thought this beer was really complex and well done and probably something I would buy more often if I had access to it.

Very Unibroue-y. Standard house aroma. Medium sweet and malty dubbel, some aging fruit and light spices, a little black pepper?

Pour is a dark brown with a large head. Aroma is candi sugar, Belgian yeast and wine. Flavor is sweet but spicy with some malts and a dark fruit aspect. A little watery and lots of carbonation. This is about as average as a dubble can get. It has its qualities to seak it out though especially with the price tag of $4.99.

Bottled. A deep brown beer with a red shine, under a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of spices and celery. The flavor is sweet malty and very spicy, coriander and cloves standing out, but also with notes of celery.

Nose of raisins, chcolate, and some cloves; hazy walnut with a small tan head; flavor of nutmeg, caramel, chocolate, and raisins; decent dubbel; good complexity.

Bottle. Brown/mahogony beer with a tan head. Spicy, malty, earthy aroma. Yeasty, spicy, slight dried fruit flavor with backing malt - then the banan comes on and stays. Medium body. Lingering yeast and banana. Dry finish.

Poures dark with a large, fluffy of white head. Aroma is bubblegum and yeast, some fruit as well. Mouth is thin and fizzy. Flavor is spicey, yeasty and some fruits. Didn’t like it at first, but it got better. Decent.
