17th July 2014 San Clemente Pizza Port, on my first flight of the day. Very dark brown, almost black in colour, dark beige head. The aroma was over roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate and mildly smoky. The taste very similar to the nose with some added liquorice for good measure. Seemed stronger than the advertised 5.6% ABV, very drinkable.

On tap at the brewpub. Very dark brown in color, topped by a dark beige head. The aroma has licorice, roasted malts, dark chocolate and some bonfire. Full body, velvety carbonation. Bonfire, roasted malts, licorice and some chocolate in the flavor. Lasting roasted finish. Nice, not world class. 130813

24/05/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap).

On tap, sampled blind. Pours with a near pitch black body with a huge tan head. Big nose of espresso beans, leather, roast and bready notes. Decently spicy roast profile. Flavors are roasty, earthy, spicy, with a bit of acidic dark roast. Slightly bitter edge. Somewhat dry, medium roast astringencies. Finishes dry and a bit chalky.

On tap. Pours a clear black with a tint of red and a beige head. Sweetish roasted malt and plenty of licorice accents. Medium body with sweet roast, licorice and chocolate. Very subdued bitterness. A classic and pleasant Porter. 141010
