OAmber, with a slight haze. The aroma has a lot of that citrus peel, maybe allspice. On the palate it’s pretty spicy, light toffee, alcohol, and again some of that citrus peel comes into the finish. It’s got decent balance. Not the best idea bit decent execution nonetheless.

16 oz. bottle, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is rather subdued for all the shit in here, with toasted nuts, Xmas spices, and bready caramel. Flavour is rather soft, with bready caramel, maybe some toasted chestnuts, oxidation, and a touch of citrus peel. Jumbled and incoherent but there’s obviously a decent base. It’s okay.

Aroma has notes of toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, dark bread, nuts, citrus. Taste is sweet with a bitter edge, finishing very dry. Chestnuts really come to the forefront after warming in the glass for a few minutes, as does the orange peel. Interesting spin on the American barleywine.
