One of several versions of this IPA commissioned by a Finnish beer pub. Cream white, thick, firm head over a warm orange blonde beer. Very powerful, attacking aroma of grapefruit, pine resin, tonic water, orange peel, peach, freshly cut grass, potpourri, tonic water. Strong citrussy taste, refreshing with full and smooth, bit oily mouthfeel, caramel malts, strong but elegant and aromatic, spicy and citrussy hop finish with some warming alcohol. One of the most elegant and appetizing IPAs I tasted so far.

Draught@Pikkulintu, Summer 2012. Hazy amber looks with a thin off white head. Citrus and hop laden nose that promised good things. Sweet, boozy flavour that delivered in spades with bags of tropical fruit hoppy goodness. Dry lingering bitter finish. A worthy beer to celebrate a great bar! I left pleasantly drunk that night with a belly full of good beer/fine single malts! I will return !

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of herbal hops with some citrus notes and some bitter notes. Taste is a mix between some herbal notes with some citrus notes and some bitterness with a solid malt backbone without too much residual sugar to cut through the hops profile. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Solid full-body IIPA.

Draft at ACBF 2011. Pours hazy auburn with a thick, off-white head. Grapefruit and grass aroma. Pretty sweet flavor, some caramel and medium bitterness. Nice flavor, though; the caramel dimension is fairly rich and there are notes of tropical fruits and modest pine. Malty and sweet. Full bodied with average carbonation. Good bitter finish, tropical fruits, honey, caramel, light pine. Very good.

Courtesy of Henrik; bottled 6.11.2010 (3 months age)
Opening the bottle there is no sign of carbonation, as well when pouring it; cloudy orange amber color, with a small frothy head. The aroma of citrusy hops and tropical fruits is still excellent, and there is also a light note of caramel and toffee, and an earthy (manure) touch. As expected the carbonation is very low and the mouthfeel is therefore a bit oily; strong toffee flavor, quite sweet, counterbalanced immediately by the strong bitterness; the hop is only partially fruity here, mostly resiny; there is indeed some alcohol warmth, but well hidden for this weight; the final is strong and long, but the IBUs don’t burn the tongue. Powerful, not as extreme as other uberhoppy American bottles, maybe not very elegant.

07/05 0.5 l bottle courtesy of Marko, thanks for sharing! It poured hazy orange to copper body with medium sized head. Very nice orange and fruity malty aroma. Flavor was nice as well, well balanced between malts and hops, as DIPAs usually get. This particular piece does it a bit different, with fine fruitiness (bubblegum, apricot) instead of usual caramel and dark malt stuff. Alcohol is very well hidden in its medium to fuller body. Bittersweet, quite long finish just confirms its perfect balance to orange hops. Very nice anyway.

50 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Pikkulintu. No BBE info
Aroma of resin, intensive hops and fresh, exotic fruits. Flavour has very much hops that make it feel a bot too sweet. Flavour has also some ripe fruits. Unable to locate the alcohol. A hophead’s dream.
