A deep dark stout with a thin lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, light barrel notes, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, woody notes, light whiskey, very nice and smooth. On tap at brewery.

Celebrating my 100th review from 5e Baron, with my first visit to their brewpub. Use to go a lot in the early 2000s as l'Autre Oeil pub. This Imperial Stout in rye barrel pours a dark brown colour, almost black with a mocha-coloured head, leaving some light lacing spots. Roasted malt nose with woodiness, prunes and hints of molasses. Lightly silky, not too thick and fairly dry in the finish. Roasted barley flavour with a lot of grassiness and a touch of rye that lingers nicely. A good hopped-up Imperial Stout with some nice woody-spicy rye notes. Here's to the next 100 reviews!
