[as La Petrognola Cinghiale Nero] Bottiglia.

Bottle at Bar O’Netto Brasserie, Riomaggiore. Dark brown body with a thick beige head. Clumpy yeast floating around. Excellent lacing. Aroma of espresso, ash, fig and orange. Flavour of dark chocolate lifted by tangy grapefruit hops. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. I would class this as a Black IPA (a decent one, too).

330 ml bottle. Aroma of creamy milk chocolate, hazelnuts, malts. Kind of cloudy black with a pretty bubbly head. Dry, grainy falvor, coffee, dark chocolate, oatmeal stout-like with a bit of Belgian fruit and spice. Sweet, but finishes quite dry. A bit of blackberry in there too. Nice stout. Big grains. Soft, full mouth.

Small flask bottle from Domus Birrae. Pours very dark brown with a slight foamy tan head. Aroma is lightly fruity. Med minus body. Flavor is lightly fruity (suggestion of Belgian wood fruits) with some almost sour darkish maltl. It’s very nice - seems to develop a little berry and coffee with time. Style? Still haven’t looked at the top of the page!

Courtesy Igklotet, thanks Lars! Muddy light bronze colour. Phenols and a fruity character indicate maybe this is past its best. Chestnut character? Not sure, it’s somewhat indistinct. Some nuttiness in there, that’s for certain. Decent brew, maybe past its prime a bit.

4th June 2010 - Bottle at Brasserie 4:20. Cloudy brown beer. Off white head. Light dry palate. Light chocolately malt and some aniseedy alcohol. That’s about it. Finishes light and dry. Bit too dry overall.
