Black Forest is a very rich, thick, and flavoursome porter, in the style of those brewed in old London. The aroma brings roasted coffee and oak. Dark chocolate, espresso and charred malts follow and the long finale is dark, fruity, and bittersweet.

Third, cask ale at The Rake. Covering beige head, leaving dotted spots on the glass, pitch black. Earthy malt, chocolate and dark berries on the nose, inviting. Grainy chocolate flavours supported by dark berries, fine balance to it. Rounded malt-berry ending, smoothly roasted. nice. (Borough, Greater London 07.11.2022).

Tap at Beer Dock, Crewe Pours almost jet black with a small beige head. Nose has an enticing cakey mixture of chocolate and cherries. In the mouth it is nice and creamy with low carbonation. Taste combines coffee and chocolate with just a hint of fruitiness. Finish is sweet and chocolate influenced. Very nice indeed.
