Sample at the Texas Beer & Brats tasting 10/11/2009. The beer is a clear brown color with a thin tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Toffee, caramel and malt in the nose. Medium, smooth body with flavors of sweet caramel malt that has roasty touches. Bits of hops at times too. The finish is sweet and malty and lingers a short while. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Thanks again! Dark reddish brown with a very slight tan head. Aroma of dark malt with something like celery for notes. Medium body with mild, frothy carbonation. Flavor is non-harsh roasted malt with some light bitterness. Touch of chocolate. It’s well balanced. Easier drinking than many browns.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and brown sugar as well as just an edge of acidity. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of alcohol and roasted malt. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

courteys of lowgear. Pours amber with off white head. Aroma of roasted malts and yeast. Taste, roasted malts, light dark fruits, bitter hops and notes of bitter chocolate. Finish is relatively light and malty with added touch of nuts Yeast seems to add a dry component with a somewhat weak nutty finish.

12 oz bottle from Zinister. Pour is cloudy brown, smallish off white head. Aroma of slightly sweet caramel malt. Just a touch of breadiness. Taste is the malty sweet of the nose, with a twinge of bitter sourness near the finish. The light bready dustiness is present. Palate is medium to thin, with a lingering finish. Decent enough brown, thanks Mike!

Thanks to ilovedarkbeer. Pours a hazy dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma of maple, nuts, some flowers as well. Taste is sweet and nutty with some wheat. Pretty boring. Water like mouthfeel, light bubbles.
