Cask gravity at GBBF 2010. Black dark brown edges. Good choccy aroma. Quite a lithe impy stout. Bit of ash in the mouth. Pretty decent. Bit oily choc on finish.

Very clouday dark brown beer. Little tan frothy head. Smooth rich palate - a little dry. Sweet tangy dark malt with chocolate and underlying red fruits. Dry finish. Great!

Bottle thanks to Cletus. I used to love this brewery when I lived in Boston. This one disappointed a little. Pours black with an off-white head. Bad sign. Nose is very faint chocolates, coffee, licorice and light bourbon. Mouth feel is a little thin. Initial licorice taste followed by toasted malts, light bourbon, raisins and chocolates.

Bottle thanks to a friend. Pours a very dark brown with a light gray brown head that dissipates to a film around the edges. Aroma has roasted malts with a bit of underlying licorice, bitter chocolate and alcohol. Flavor has roasted malts throughout. There is a continuous underlying alcohol with a bit of licorice.
