You don’t need to be royalty to enjoy Berkshire’s dark-as-night interpretation of the traditional Russian Imperial Stout. Rich maltiness produces hints of chocolate, licorice, toffee, and ripe, dark fruit. Its velvety texture bathes your palate in luxury, begging to be paired with a dessert or to be enjoyed as a nightcap. Suitable for drinking now, this fine ale also ages beautifully in a cool, dark place…waiting patiently to transport you to the time of the Czars.

Bottled, thanks Cletus! Near black, small head. Licorice aroma. Dryish and fairly slim for he style. Lightly spritzy with tarry coffee and grasy licorice. Salty finish. A straightforward imperial stout on the lighter, more drinkable side of the spectre.

pours dark brown, rich mocha head, golden lacing. aroma nice roast, chocolate and caramel, dark fruits. flavors, malty, some sweet dark fruits, hints of bitter chocolate, lasting caramel mouthfeel with a mild hoppy finish. Some notes of sweet/sugary fruits; currants. As the beer warms up the chocolate becomes more prominent and gains a cocoa powder palate. Tasty!

Bottle thanks to Cletus. Pours with a near black body underneath a medium sized tan head. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, cola, licorice, coffee and leather. Taste is chocolate, roasted barely, licorice and chocolate milk. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. A good, but rather forgettable Imperial stout.

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours dark brown with brown edges and thin mocha head. The aroma is mildly malty moving into burnt and coffee notes as well as molasses, caramel and chocolate. The taste is smooth with roasty malts pierced with sweeter molasses and caramel. A layer of chocolate joins in about midway along with a sense of burnt malts taking this to a pleasing finish.

Bottle from mcox90, thanks. Near black pour with a large, creamy brown head. Aroma is roasty with coffee and light cocoa. A sweeter chocolate comes through in the flavor with more coffee and a well-balanced roastiness. Some dark chocolate and light bittersweetness. I found this to be well rounded and delicious.

Bottle: Poured a medium black color stout with a medium light brown color head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with some black chocolate notes. Taste is also dominated by some slightly bitter roasted malt with some notes of black chocolate. Body is definitely too thin for the style with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad overall even though body is watery and too thin for the style.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet spicy with notes of roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of vegetables and ginger. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of roasted malt, lending it a slight acidity and hints of bourbon. The alcohol burns in the throat.

Poured a thick, opaque black with a think slightly off white head. Smells of chocolate, malts, dark fruits like plums and red grapes. Flavor is really sour for an Imperial Stout, sour like tart cherries and grapes. None of the primary flavors are that of a traditional imperial stout. Finish is sweet with residual sugar, almost like a glass of Reisling. Not your usual imperial stout and origionality did not make up for lack of a discernable flavor.
