Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours murky orange with a small offwhite head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly malty, slightly fruity and smokey with crackers, dark bread, biscuits, lemon juice, mealy ripe apples, hay, smoked ham, minerals and lemon zest. Taste is sour, slightly malty, slightly fruity and slightly smokey. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tart, tiny dry and medium bodied. Finish is sour with white bread, biscuits, lemon juice, mix of mealy sweet and crisp tart apples, hay, smoked ham, minerals and lemon zest. Solid fruity smoked sour. Good match with a hearthy meal. --- Beer merged from original tick of Abraxxxas Apple on 13 Dec 2015 at 21:17 - Score: 7. Original review text: Solid lichtenheiner base with an added mix of mealy sweet and crisp tart apples. Balanced smoke and acidity. Perfect with a hearthy meal.

Bottle at Churchkey, split between my Girlfriend and me. Poured a very hazy dark golden color with a small white head. Aroma was lots of apples, plenty of smoke notes, light salty tartness. Flavor had a lot of herbal notes, apple, smoked malts were very nice in this. Worked out a lot more than I expected.

Bottle at Marikka’s. Cloudy orange with small white head. Aroma is light tart, medium body, medium light soft carbonation, and pretty good lacing. Taste is smoked (pepperoni primarily). Probably not worth what I paid, but not bad.

Bottle: Cloudy orange-brown with a small white head. Aroma is green apple, smoked ham. Taste is tart green apple, smoke.... More tart than the pear version, and not quite as smooth.....sharp vs. sweet in comparison. Very good as well, but preferred the pear just a bit more.

Bottle. Apple, smoked meat malt, and hay aroma. Golden yellow with minimal head. Sweet tart light apple juice, smoked ham, malt, and straw flavor. Nice body. Apple pretty subtle but does add some interesting sweetness to the beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place in Jaffa. Thanks Tom C. Hazy yellow-golden with a white head. Aroma of wheat, some lacto, fruity esters, smokes sausages, apple. Tart flavor, lactic, with fruitiness, some apples, banana notes, and smoked meat. Medium-bodied. Very nice stuff. Interesting.

0.5 l bottle from Vormann Brauerei, bottled in 2015. Hazy, golden orange with a thin, frothy, quickly diminishing, white head. Sourish-smoky aroma of charcoal, apple and pear. Sourish, fruity-smoky taste of charcoal, apple, rhubarb and pear, followed by a short, fruity and tart finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent and astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not too deep but highly drinkable and quite refreshing. The combination of acidity, smoke and fruit is still quite strange but I like this one slightly better than the pear version. Good!
