Mohawk Blizzard is an extreme beer. It is brewed with ten malts, dark cane sugar and honey, as well as eight different varieties of hops. All this to help with complexity, while providing balance and elegance. Drink now, or save a few bottles for next year and see how the layered tones of fortified wine and nuts adds a further dimension to this beer.

33 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Bottled 2010, enjoyed 2012-01-02. Opaque black liquid with brown edges and medium to big, thick tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, nuts, honey, toffee, unrefined sugar and fruity hops. Taste is light sweet, medium bitter and roasted. Notes of coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Medium to full bodied with OK carbonation. A bit boozy. Overall, enjoyable beer but a bit rough around the edges and some disturbing alcohol taste. Though, it has improved since last christmas, a bit less boozy.

33cl bottle, courtesy of and shared with Gnoff.

Vintage 2010
Black color; huge head, compact. Mild aroma of roasted malts, with a hint of spices. Good body strength, and very smooth mouthfeel; there is a good blend of flavors, including caramel, dark malts, chocolate, liquorice. Very good.

33cl bottle, BBE 24.12.2012
Some vegetables in the aroma, makes it smell like a dish soap. The roasted malt is hardly there. Flavour has some very salty liquorice and some strong herbs that make it taste like Jägermeister. Some hints of coffee in the late aftertaste. Not a very good for an imperial porter and not very drinkable.

33 cl bottle @ Tampella
Aroma has soy sauce, salty licorice and some spices. Flavour has spicy notes, salty licorice, some soy sauce and hints of ash. Better than fresh; the spicy notes are no longer at the Jägermaister level.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown, almost black body with a fine creamy beige head. Aroma of dark, roasted malt, coffee and liquorices. Flavor has roasted malt, coffee, licorices and a mild smooth bitterness. Fine balanced body and a pleasant, light roasted aftertaste. Well made and very balanced, dangerously easy to drink.

Bottle. It pours a clear, dark dark brown body and a small, dark beige head. Roasted malts, coffee and chocolate on the nose, a scent of hops in the far back. Some alcohol too. The flavor has alcohol, lots of chocolate and coffee, and lots of roasted malts. Sweetness and hoppy bitterness to balance it. Full-bodied and warming. Long finish with roasted malts and chocolate. A nice and dangerously easy drinkable dark beer. Umm... 110524
