This shimmering gold amber coloured beer has a light, smoked malt aroma. It’s well-rounded, with a great taste of malts and with a hint of sweetness. The smoky taste is quite dominant at each new draught. An original and notable beer, La Charbonnière is a house specialty.

Pours brown with a large lasting head.Immediately noticeable in the aroma is smoked ham, campfire and bacon in large quantities. Underneath is some barely noticeable caramel. The smoky character is nor as overpowering as a flavour, allowing sweet caramel, nutty malt and a soft roasty character to come into play.Carbonation is a little full on.Got nothing on Aecht Schlenkerla, but nice stuff none the less.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Brown appearance with a light brown head. Incredibly nice, smoky, roasty, bbq, dark malty nose. Roasty, smoky, bacon, slightly chocolatey, roasty dark malty flavor. Lingering bbq smoky, roastiness. Fuck yeah.

7/9/10/9/11/11

12oz Bottle I brought back from Canada. Pours out brown topped with a sand head. Aroma was of light smoke, bacon, pit fruit, and a little caramel. Taste was more of the smoke along with a good sweetness.

Location: Draft at Rattle 'N' Hum, 7/14/10

Aroma: The nose has some smoke, caramel malts, and a little bit of wood
Appearance: It pours a brown color with a small light brown head on top of it
Flavor: Well-balanced beer with smoke, some malts, and a nice complexity
Palate: Medium bodied, with a mouthfeel that is really rather smooth, and creamy
Overall Impression: I'm randomly the 100th person to rate this beer! What a completely pointless piece of statistical information! Anyway, this was some weird stuff, but that may just be because I'm not 100% sure how I feel about Smoked beers in general. I don't have a strong feeling against them or anything, I just find them to be rather strange. Anyway, I thought this one worked pretty well, so maybe I do like Smoked beers. Who the heck knows?

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours dark brown with a small white head. Smokey nose with malt and caramel notes. Flavor is sweet to begin, then quickly becomes smokey. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with faint bitterness but mostly long and smokey. Very good, rich beer.

Medium yellowish head over clear cola-coloured beer, quite carbonated. Phenolic, tarry nose, black cardemom. Woody, solvent, tarry & phenolic - in a serious way. " Charbonnière" is indeed the right name. Fire-roasted chestnuts. Very carbonated MF, very slick to viscous; medium bodied. VERY phenolic. One to brace oneself for. Grand merci à Glouglouburp
