Tasted @ proeflokaal De Prael. Pitch black, opague colour with a light brown head. Smells roasty, chocolate, coffee and ash. Tastes the same as smell. Full body, nice carbo. Quite a nice beer!

Tasting session @ Brewery De Prael, Amsterdam. Very dark brown color, creamy light brown head. Smell malts, burned malts, smoke. Taste malts, smoke, some bitterness. Medium carbo, medium body. Pretty nice.

From tap at the proeflokaal. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and breadish. Dark roasted malty, breadish and light chocolate touch. Lingering roasted malty and dry breadish.

(Draught at De Prael Proeflokal, Amsterdam, 16 July 2011) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Roasted, malty nose with chocolate, cocoa and dark bread. Roasted, malty taste with notes of chocolate, dark bread and wort. Medium body, fairly sweet, with a mild bitterness. Highly drinkable. Nice one.

Draught @ De Prael Proeflokaal, Warmoesstraat 15, Amsterdam, Netherlands 1012 HX.Light unclear medium to dark red brown color with a small to average, frothy to fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, bread, brown sugar, light caramel. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, sugar sweet, malt sweet, roasted bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [9/25/10] Cask at the brewpub in Amsterdam. Dark brown color. Aroma of malt, fruits, a bit of butter and light smoky hints. Sweet flavor of malt, caramel, a bit of chocolate, nutty hints, toasted notes and a dry finish. Medium-bodied. Quite easy-drinking.

Tap at De Prael ...nice deep red ... thin ring lacing ... sweet dry fruits ... dark suger nose ... touch too carbinated ... nice soft caramel ... light roast malt.

On tap at ’t Arendsnest, ABV 5.4%, and listed as a schwarzbier. Clear dark reddish brown colour, creamy off white head. Aroma of light roasted malts, rye, a bit of spice and liquorice. Flavour is light sweet, roasted malts, laurel, liquorice, light bitter finish, dry mouthfeel. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Good stuff. 738316 Re-rate: some chocolate notes found. Hazed burgundy brown with a thick collapsing off white head. Candy sugar aroma with warming alcohol, prunes and raisins. In mouth, roasted cocoa with fruity esters, chocolate, warming alcohol. Rich and complex. On tap at In de Wildeman, Nov. 2006, 2.90 Euro, 250 mL.
