Leifur is brewed with wild Arctic thyme and heather, Belgian yeast and hops that deliver a tingling aroma of crushed pepper and citrus.

Leifur is named after the Icelandic explorer Leifur (the Lucky) Eiríksson, the first European to set foot in North America – almost 500 years before Christopher Columbus. Leifur discovered a lush landscape with plentiful stores of salmon, vines and grapes, and so named the land Vinland (Vineland).

33 cl bottled at Rub 23 restaurant in Akureyi, Iceland. The pour is a haze orange golden with a smallish off white head. The aroma is thyme, pepper, general herbal and Saison yeast. The taste is a nice fresh blend of the floral thyme, pepper spice and the herbal Saison yeast. The palate is medium to heavier bodied with soft natural carbonation and a clean yeast finish. Nice.

Bottle at the Lava restaurant at the Blue Lagoon. Appearance - golden to golden amber with a nice fluffy head. Nose - apple, candied pineapple and nutmeg. Taste - more spice, possibly pepper this time and more candied fruit. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy middle section. Long dry tangy finish. Overall - good example of the style.

From Nate: pours orange/gold with a white head. Floral, yeasty farmhouse aromas... seems legit. Taste is dry, yeasty. Pretty standard but hits all the checkmarks. No complaints.
