is een amberkleurig, ongefilterd Kuytbier met 7,5% (vol.) alcohol. Naast de grote hoeveelheid gemoute haver in dit bier is er ook donkergekleurde gerst- en tarwemout gebruikt. Dit zorgt voor een zachte, romige smaak met subtiele karamel- en lauriertonen én een toets van gedroogd fruit (pruimen en rozijnen).
In contrast tot de meeste donkere bieren is dit bier matig zoet, maar wel volmondig. Het bier is niet bitter en hoewel het 7,5% (vol.) alcohol bevat, ervaart de drinker geen puur zwaar bier.
De Dikke Donder is uitermate geschikt om mee te koken, denk hierbij aan een lekker stoofpotje met extra toegevoegde gedroogde pruimen of pure appelperenstroop. De Dikke Donder geeft ook een extra smaakbeleving bij andere vleessauzen. Daarnaast past de Dikke Donder uitstekend bij een voorgerecht met een licht zoete smaak, zoals carpaccio.

Bottle. Dark amber color. Malt, caramel and hints of plums in the aroma. Malty caramelly sweet flavor with pear and floral notes. Uninteresting and sticky.

Bottle. Color: Clear bronze, long lasting beige head. Taste: Medium sweet malt, caramel, decent bitterness. Notes of herbs. Hints of dried red fruit. Bit sticky mouthfeel. Medium body, average carbonation. OK kuytbier.

Draft at some trendy shithole in Utrecht. Cloudy amber with a small off white head. Aroma of chocolate malt, caramel and some strange unknown herbal notes. Flavour is above moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle. Red bronze color. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee and sweet red fruit. Taste is sweet and boozy, with malt, herbal hops, some iron and sweet candy-ish red fruit, especially strawberry. Not bad, it’s a little carbonated and that’s off-putting.

33 cl. bottle @ Café de Engel, Wijk bij Duurstede. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Malty aroma with some hops. Sweet taste with some hopbitterness in the end. Nice enough beer.

Sample from tap @ Utrechts Brouwers Fesitval 2016, with Zlotta, Caesar, Benzai & ShivanDragon. Deep amber to red color, cloudy. Dense, rocky off white head with lacing. Aroma’s: a bit herbal, caramel. More grainish and fruity retronasal. Flavor is light sweet, grainish. Medium bodied. Pretty decent actually.

Sampled @ UBF 2016. Hazy dark orange to reddish colored, medium sized beige head that lasts for a decent while and leaves fair lacing. Smell and taste malts, lightly sweet, lightly a fruity hint, a soft fruitpeel touch, soft bitter hint in the finish. Decent body and carbonation. Not bad.

@UBF 2016, met #Zlotta, #Benzai, #Caesar en #PotjeBier van tap donker amber met gelig/witte kraag. aroma van carmel, citrus, kruidig, saison+grassigheid, redelijk aan de kruidige kant. smaken zijn zacht/glad, matig zoet, redelijk gras kruidig, caramel, biscuit, sinaasappelschil, matige body, normale co2. gaat.
