Bottle thanks to IBrew2or3: Poured a reddish brown with a light head. The aroma is boozy and hops. Taste is an awesome mix of boozy caramel malt and hops.

Courtesy of ksurkin Pours amber with off white head. The aroma is big with pine hops, tree sap, sweet musty crusty malts, prunes, raisins and plums. The taste is similar with big brash pummeling hops that pack punches from pine, resiny goodness and some grassiness. Behind the assertive load of hops are sweet malts that have fused with the resiny pine bitterness to create a pleasing flavor. I get loads and loads of hops balanced by slick yet deep sludgy sweet malts. It ends with lingering pine hop flavor and robust hop bitterness. Love this!

Aroma: Apple juice, brown sugar, herbal notes, some caramel, and a bit of orange
Appearance: Dark ruby red color with a wispy beige head, light lace
Flavor: Flavor of brown sugar and caramel/toffee malts, light orange hop
Palate: Medium-full bodied beer with a mild-medium alcohol burn
Overall Impression: I feel like this one had just the right amount of age on it. It has a slight alcohol burn, but it doesn't overwhelm the beer. The flavor is much like the nose, but feel slightly more burnt, and slightly less fruity. The dryness and alcohol come out mostly in the finish of the beer. The brown sugar is definitely strong in this one. A pretty solid Barley Wine.

Draft: Orange and lemon zest bouquet, with an abundance of pine needle. Hazy copper, thick yellow head, nice lacing. Full body. Complex flavor of cherries, oak, strawberries, fig, and raisins. Pine sap finish. A bit resinous mouthfeel. Fair balance. It was particularly enjoyable with oysters rockafeller. Very drinkable.

October ’09 O-Town Throwdown. Thanks Daknole. bottle # 094/2007 pours dark brown, beige head and thin golden lacing. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, malts. Hops were attenuated. Flavor, lots of caramel, malts, some chocolate and brown sugar, light notes of yeast, with a crisp finish, light on the hop side.

22oz 2007 bottle, opened in May of 2009. Dark glowing opaque brown. Still maintains some quality carbonation with the accompanying half inch head. Caramel black licorice aroma, very intense. Assumably highly hopped, though most of the tastes are buried in the thick, sticky sweet malt. Lots of rich, leathery toffee as well. The hops really save this one, giving it some balance. I never had a fresh bottle to compare and contrast with, but I’d assume this has aged well. Great beer for the heavy hitters out there.

Bottle Pours out a brown with red highs topped with a small head. Aroma was of black berries, sweet caramel and light citrus hop. Tast was more of the sweet vcaramel malts and the light hops. not bad.

Bottle: Auburn pour with a small tan head. Faded hops and citrus up front with a caramel sweet nose. Taste smooth and sweet with a blended faded hops and caramel base. Hints of chocolate, caramel, and again a faded floral note. Nice. Thanks Immy.

Nice super hazy brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of strong oak, vanilla, pit fruits and a bit of whiskey - pretty nice! Medium to Full-bodied; Strong assertive oaky flavour up front with a good malt backbone and tons of pit fruits following behind. Aftertaste shows a bit of hop bitterness, vanilla, alcohol and a nice whiskey warming feeling at the end. Overall, nice to try and a good barleywine - large and great flavours throughout! I sampled this 65 cL botle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 08-May-2008, sampled on Thanksgiving, 27-November-2008 at home in Washington.

Sample at the Columbus Ratebeer gathering at ogglethorp’s 11/20/08: Bottle #1388. The beer pours a murky brownish-amber color with a thin and fizzy beige head that diminishes quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Oaky nose with notes of caramel malt and hops. Rich body with flavors of grainy malt, caramel and bitter hops. The finish is sweet caramel and malt at first but leaves a slow-burning hops aftertaste behind. Pretty good Barley Wine all around.
