A de-luxe bottle conditioned porter launched to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Brewed with carefully balanced proportions of dark malts including chocolate malt.

A very smooth, rich, smoky, ruby coloured porter with a generous charge of Fuggles and Goldings hops which provide a wonderfully balanced aroma. The Lieutenancy is one of the most ancient Offices in England dating from 1535 in Buckinghamshire and this beer was launched by Sir Nigel Mobbs, Lord Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire, who charged the coppers with choice hops.

330ml bottle from Micro Beer Crate online. I haven't had a gusher in so long I was lulled into a false sense of security which hit home when it spilt all over my trousers once opened. Didn't lose too much though. Pours murky reddish-brown with big beige head, settles to a nice creamy top. Aroma of toasted malt, stewed berries, banana, metal. Moderate and very creamy smooth body, soft carbonation. Taste has semi sweet roasty malts, dark fruits, modest coffee like bitterness, some cola. A porter with some red ale elements. Tasty.

330ml bottle bought as part of a delivery from the brewery and drunk at home. Thinnish mid-brown, translucent with a small ring of beige head. Odd aroma of liquorice at first, then caramel, sourdough and yeasty banana. Sweet taste, some caramel here, turning to a fairly harsh bitterness at the end. Flat body. It’s underwhelming and all over the place, but drinkable.

Dark brown colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have a gentle sweet spiciness. Quite sweet. More like a Milk Stout than a Porter but nice anyway. Silky texture.

Bottle at home, as LL 'cream' Porter, 10/08/19. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent beige head. Nose is dark fruits, dark malts, toffee, hint of cocoa, brown sugar. Taste comprises light roast, toffee, fruit slice, hint of coffee, brown sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok porter.

(Gravity cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 24 Nov 2018) Dark ruby colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with caramel, chocolate and spices (nutmeg, cinnamon). Malty taste with notes of caramel, black rye bread, coffee, a touch of smoke and a dry finish with a mild roasty bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced porter. Quite nice.

A lovely porter, this. Fairly sweet, some roast, pretty creamy indeed. Very high on carbonation, that's a pity, but the body does not suffer. Sweetened coffee with a few drops of cream, and some licorice blended through as a bonus.
