Inspired by the Russian Imperial Stout. This jet black beer with roasted malt and a high alcohol percentage (10% vol.alc.) Is, as it were, a more driven version of the Kleveretien… only everything is even more extreme: the roasted flavors, coffee and mocha are even more intense.

In addition to the non-barrel-aged version, we regularly release versions of the Dead Man's Hand that have been matured in oak barrels.

Bottle/Fest. A- Cocoa, subtle black licorice, dried dark fruits, weak. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Black pepper, spices, cocoa, subtle coffee, anise. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- Balanced well, but I got this pepper spice taste that overpowered everything else. It wasn’t a bad thing just really odd. I’m not sure how to really describe this one best, it was good though.

Bottle from Comme la Gueuze shared. Pours a deep brown with a finger of foam that lingers. Lots of roasty cacao nib aromas with plum, prune, cinnamon, raisins and nutmeg. Easy drinking and fairly smooth on the palate. Maybe a bit thin-bodied but good stuff.

Pours black, small grey head. Smell is mildly roasted, thick, but not intense. Taste is sharp, rather bitter, but def. not much. Roasty, very roasty ! dry, aspects of cocoa, chocolate. Very nice. Lacks a bit of body ( I like very silky imperial stouts) and is by no means the US standards I’ve come to love. But as a Belgian Imperial stout - style, its more than good !
