Bottle: Bright golden color, somewhat pale in shade, with many tiny bubbles and a huge frothy white head… about half my teku is the cap. Nose is decidedly citrus and floral; lighter on the Belgian yeast than I expected. Just small hints at earthy. The taste is reminiscent of champagne at first sip, lots of prickly bubbles, and a light fruity yeast. Picking up some apples. Gets a little more floral and earthy in the tail. Lively. A good clean finish. It draws me in for another sip and then another…

2014-08-28, draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, 7-3-7-3-13=33
Cloudy pale blond color with compact persistent head. It’ s a bit fruity, it’s dry, it’s lightly resiny. The aroma is lightly peachy and resiny; I appreciate the lean and pale malt approach but the result is not exciting. Unfortunately it just fought against the pFriem IPA and it lost.

2014-07-20, bottle from Legacy Liquor, Vancouver, 7-4-7-4-16=38
Cloudy pale blond color with compact head. The aroma is quite tropical, with some citrus fruit too, and delicate spiciness (7.5). The dry mouthfeel blends well with the moderate spiciness and the citrusy hops (lemon peel); not much malt flavor to talk about; strong bitterness.
Relatively clean for the style, balanced; very good.

Bottle - Grapefruit, pineapple and passion fruit. Clearish light gold with a decent decent white head. Sweet perfumy tropical fruit and fruity yeasty esters. A little boozy sweetness in the finish. Nice and refreshing.

Bomber. Pours a cloudy yellow straw color. Fizzy white head leaves some decent lacing. Aromas of sweet stone fruit, spicy yeast, citrus hops and biscuit. Taste is sharp, crisp, and dry up front. Spicy yeast & citrus hops, along with stone fruit & apple round out the profile.Thin body with lively carbonation.

Bottle @ Zach’s house. Pours a bit hazy golden appearance with an off white head. Aroma has a bunch of banana, apple, and pear with some white pepper and dough. Moderately high sweetness. Dull bitterness. A bit chewy and doughy. Light fruit and herbs in the flavor along with a but of pepper. Ok.

Bright gold, citra hops, sweet malts, lots of sticky pale residuals, berryish hop character. Yeah the Belgian IPA thing makes no sense to me. The balance is just all wrong .

Best by date of 10/15/14.
This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a hazy burnt yellow to orange color with a half finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. The lacing was kinda all over the place.
The smell was basically a spiced apple to pear, light orange, and grapefruit, light lemon, Lemon rind, lemongrass, light pepper on the back end.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and combined wonderfully allowing a super refreshing blend come all about.
On the palate, it had the normal harsh characteristics of a Belgian IPA to still allow a safe yet soft feel all around. I would say that this was about medium bodied.
Overall, for the price, after having this I can’t see why I would ever have Anchorage’s Bitter Monk ever again as this one could definitely be right next to it in a blind taste test and I doubt if I would be able to tell the difference.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is fruity hops with pineapple being the dominate fruit. Flavor is again a super fruity hop with a minor Belgian yeast in the back round. Just listing this as an IPA would be ok with me as anything "Belgian" is kinda way in the back round. A very nice fruity hoppy IPA is what you have here.
